7chan
From Chan Top List, the imageboard wiki.
7chan is an English-language imageboard launched in 2006 by users dissatisfied with the moderation and quality of 4chan. Rather than competing on size, 7chan positioned itself as a stricter, more on-topic alternative with smaller boards and active janitorial enforcement. It remained moderately active for over a decade.
Position in the chan ecosystem
7chan deliberately rejected the 'random' board model that defined 4chan's /b/, instead requiring posts to remain on each board's topic. This gave it a reputation as a quieter, more focused community with proportionally older users.
Legacy
Although traffic has fallen significantly since the 2010s, 7chan is frequently cited in histories of imageboard culture as an early example of a 'splinter' chan founded explicitly in opposition to 4chan's direction.
